Free Machining Grades

PRODEC® grades of 304, 304L, 316 and 316L meet the same AMS, ASTM, ASME, QQS, and MIL-S specifications as conventional grades. They offer improved corrosion resistance and nearly identical mechanical properties but are significantly easier to machine. By tightly controling the ladle chemistry and nonmetallic inclusions, they can be machined at higher speeds with less tool wear.

Typical applications include vacuum processing equipment where material integrity is essential, and heat exchanger tube sheets or any application where extensive secondary machining is required. Better machinability means a lower lower cost per part and an advantage in a tough market.

Special Grades

Other grades and gauges are available upon request including carbon steel, 17-4PH and high nickel alloys. When quantities warrant, we can even provide special chemistry grades for your specific application.

Forgings

For requirements outside our stock inventory or when yield is a problem, we offer fully annealed forgings, machined all over or rough machined with allowance to finish.

Tracability and original mill certifications are available as required, at no extra charge, to simplify your documentation and compliance requirements.
